Hearing Loss


Did you know hearing loss is common – it affects 12 million people in the UK.


Hearing loss can occur at any age. Some hearing losses happen over time, and in some cases hearing can drop suddenly.

Doctors are sometimes able to tell you the cause of your hearing loss, but in most cases it is very difficult to know why the hearing loss has occurred. Some reasons for hearing loss can be identified in a scan, or may be linked with other conditions.

Depending on which section of the ear that is affected, two main types of hearing loss can be identified.
